"Leave the Ridge?" cried the boys in chorus.

"Leave these mountains? Is that what you mean?" demanded the Professor indignantly.

"I reckon that's it."

"Why so? Why should we leave here until we have finished our journey?" interjected Tad, eyeing the man keenly.

"Because I say so. I'm not talking to you."
