Edin. 1790; surgeon at Dundee 1791; became an eminent lithotomist; performed operation of lithotomy 200 times, being unsuccessful in 14 cases only; surgeon to Royal Infirmary, Dundee 1836, his full-length portrait by John Gibson was placed in the Infirmary 14 June 1841; a reader in the Glasite church, Dundee 60 years; never went out of Scotland. d.
