BACON, George Peter (younger son of R. M. Bacon of Norwich, editor of the Norwich Mercury). Bought the Sussex Advertiser 1843, wrote all the leading articles and edited the paper to his death; sec. of Hop excise duty repeal association 1858 to April 1862 when duty which yielded £750,000 a year was taken off. d. 64 High st.
