HORNYGOLD, William, b. 1797; an artist; lived in parish of St. Clement Danes, London; known for his drawings of theatrical characters for the toy theatre, to which he added sketches of the scenery incidental to the pieces performed; his portrait of C. Kemble as Hen. viii. is No. 55 in Skelt’s portraits: drew the illustrations for comic songs; fell down intoxicated outside the ‘Fountain,’ 4 Clare Market, London, taken to the Strand union workhouse, where he d. 12 Feb. 1867 aged 69.
