LEE, Lavater. b. 1817; a vaulter in the circus company of Wm. Batty at Portsmouth and Southampton 1840; performed at Lambeth Baths, London, which Batty opened as the Olympic Arena, Nov. 1841; on his benefit night April or May 1842 he vaulted over 14 horses, threw a back somersault on a horse going at full speed and turned 21 forward somersaults without the aid of a spring-board. d. 17 Kersley st.
