Moved to the heights of Monte Rubio near the village of La Lengua.

The forts and redoubts were stormed, and the parties sent to perform this business were repulsed. General Bowes killed. The convent connected with the principal fort was set on fire with red-hot shot thrown into it and the places soon after surrendered.

The enemy advanced some Dragoons on the left bank of the Tormes, and a skirmish took place with some of our Dragoons.
