335. What is Baptism?
Baptism is not water alone, but it is water comprehended in God's command, and united with His Word.
336. What is God's command concerning Baptism?
It is given in the words of Christ in the last chapter of Matthew:
"All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world."
337. In whose name then are you baptized?
I am baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
