At Cutty's approach Hawksley looked up apathetically.
“Want me?”

“You are pale. Anything serious?”
“Yes. Karlov has got Kitty.”
For a minute Hawksley did not stir. Then he got up, put away the Amati, and came back. He was pale, too.
