Return of Goods.—All Goods which are not satisfactory to Customers will be taken back or exchanged, except when they have been altered, or made to order, or have been worn, soiled, damaged, or are not seasonable.

When returning valuable goods customers should in all cases register them in order to ensure their safe arrival at Harrods. Town Customers must obtain a printed receipt from our carmen for any goods returned.

SPECIAL PACKAGES.—Cases and Crates for Furniture, Pictures, China, Glass, Toys, etc., are charged for and credited in full if returned in good condition, carriage paid. Groceries and provisions are packed in non-returnable Cases free of charge to customers. Customers when ordering goods frequently instruct that they be sent by Post, and, as it often occurs that the order is too large or too heavy, it is always as well to give the Rail address as well as the Post Town. Perishable orders arriving on Saturdays for Districts over 50 miles from London cannot be sent by Post to arrive the same day; such orders will be sent by Passenger Train.

EMPTIES.—Returned Empties from the Country in all cases should be advised upon being sent off, and Credit Note will be posted when received at the Stores. Oil Casks to be returned to “Harrods Ltd., Oil Warehouse, Brompton Road, S.W.” It is particularly requested, when empties are returned, that the name and address of sender be legibly written upon each package. A small charge is made for Jars, Bottles, Tins, etc. If returned in good condition will be allowed in full.

ADDITIONAL ORDERS.—Additional orders too late for inclusion with original order will be treated as separate orders, and if under 2/6 in value sent carriage forward.

STATION CLOAK ROOMS.—Parcels may be sent to the Cloak Room of any London Station and booked free of charge, provided the customer gives a reasonable time to admit our Vans Delivering the Goods by the time mentioned when ordering. Vans leave Harrods and arrive at the Station as under for Passenger Train traffic.

GOODS REPORTED MISSING.—All orders are most carefully checked before despatch, and where goods have apparently been omitted, a careful search in the straw or packing may respectfully be recommended, as invariably the goods are discovered to have been received but overlooked, and it frequently happens that goods are returned to us in the empty cases.

GOODS DAMAGED IN TRANSIT.—Should it be discovered that goods have been damaged, or articles stolen from packages during transit, Customers are advised to give information at once to the Station Master or Local Agent from whom the goods are received, thus affording an opportunity of inspecting the damaged goods. The Company, however, does not hold itself responsible for any damage or loss sustained after goods have been delivered to the Railway Company or Carrier.

PARCELS LEFT AT HARRODS.—The Directors reserve to themselves the right of opening any Parcels, Boxes, Bags, etc., which for any reason are forwarded to or left at Harrods, and in all cases where such are not taken away before the closing hour, whether locked or otherwise, they will be opened, and the Company will be in no way responsible for any damage which may be done to such Parcels, etc., or to their contents, by their being so opened.
