The knots in Figs. [24], [25] and [26] explain themselves; they are often useful to picnickers and campers-out. Hitches are no less knots than any of the foregoing; but they are knots used to fasten the end of a rope to any object in such manner as to be easily cast off when no longer needed. They are few in number, and all very simple and easily described.
