[1762] Usually the oath as to the truth of the genealogy and the limpieza of the ancestry is taken by the applicant personally, and it varies according to his taste. A few specimens will show the different formulas adopted. Some are specific and in detail as Doctor Bernardino Martinez Palomino, prebendary of Toledo, September 7, 1816.—“Los contenidos en esta genealogia son mis Padres y Abuelos Paternos y Maternos de la naturaleza que queda referida, todos legítimos y de legítimo matrimonio, limpios y de limpia sangre, sin raza de Moros, Judíos, Luteranos, Calvinistas, ni otra secta, ni procesados ni castigados por el Santo Oficio segun mi saber y entender, pues asi lo juro in verbo sacerdotis.”—Ibidem, fol. 24.
