The influence of the Inquisition at first was adverse to the plomos. See Archivo de Simancas, Inq., Lib. 20, fol. 127, 188, 236, 319. A whole volume of the archives (Lib. 44¹) is occupied with papers connected with the affair from 1604 to 1636.
