QUOTATIONS.

(Pupils stand by desks and after naming authors recite the quotations.)

1st Pupil.—Whittier said:

“Give fools their gold, and knaves their power;

Let fortune’s bubbles rise and fall;

Who sows a field or trains a flower,

Or plants a tree, is more than all.”

2nd Pupil.—Ben Johnson wrote:

“Not merely growing like a tree

In bulk doth make man better be,
