Each star has told a tale of noble deed,
Each stripe shall mean from strife a nation free.
Our glorious past when first with thirteen stars
On field of blue with white and bright red bars,
Our flag led on in battle’s fierce array,
And freed the land from mighty Britain’s sway.
And since this time when first it was unfurled,
Our flag has proved the noblest in the world.
From Cuba’s shore out to Manila Bay
Its mighty folds protecting fly to-day.
