Specimens of Anthropopithecus niger and Gorilla gorilla, in the Derby Museum, Liverpool, in which the permanent teeth have not yet developed, have the premaxillary suture quite obliterated.
The deformity known in the human skull as acrocephaly, which occurs in all races of men, and is due to the too early ossification of certain of its sutures, has been found in the Chimpanzee.
