Ζκύθικον ξύλον,

τῷ βάπτοισί τε τἤρια

ποΐεισι δὲ μάλινα

ξανθίσδοισί τε τὰς τρίχας.

Scythian wood, in which they dip fleeces and make them quince-coloured, and dye their hair yellow.

Thapsus may have been box-wood, but it is quite uncertain.
