He looked down at her questioningly.

“Not to-night. I said, not to-night.”
“Very well. Then if I can’t do anything more for you I’ll be going. You have food enough to last till morning?”
“Yes; I brought some with me when I came.”
“And wood for the stove?”
“Yes, there’s nothing you can do.”
