LK 9:18-27

18 Now it happened that as he was praying alone his disciples were with him; and he asked them, "Who do the crowds say that I am?" 19 So they answered, "John the Baptist; but others say Elijah; and others say that one of the old prophets has risen again." 20 And he said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" And Peter answered, "The Christ of God."

21 But he strictly warned and commanded them to tell this to no one, 22 saying, "The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised." 23 Then he said to them all, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. 24 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it. 25 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses or forfeits himself? 26 For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words, of him will the Son of Man be ashamed when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels. 27 But I tell you truly, there are some standing here who will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God."

Part 8 - THE TRANSFIGURATION

61.10 The Transfiguration.

Jesus Casts a Deaf and Dumb Spirit out of a Child.

MT 17:1-21

1 After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. 2 And he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light. 3 And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with him. 4 And Peter said to Jesus, "Lord, it is good for us to be here; if you wish, I will make here three tabernacles-one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah." 5 While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and a voice from the cloud said, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased. Listen to him!" 6 When the disciples heard this, they fell on their faces, and were filled with awe. 7 But Jesus came and touched them and said, "Rise. Don't be afraid." 8 And when they lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only.
