[2] Since the above was written, I find that the same theory is advanced by Mr. Buckle, in his History of Civilization, a very obvious theory, it would seem, and the result of the most common observation, viz: that where two distinct races come together there can be no amalgamation, but the inferior must die out in presence of the superior.
