Půl and čtvrt are used when speaking of measure:
Půl hodiny, half an hour; půl bušlu, half a bushel; čtvrt libry, a quarter pound etc.
In calculations we say ⅜ tři osminy, ⅞ 7 osmin, ¾ tři čtvrtiny etc.
Násobné číslovky.—Multiplicative numerals.
Dvojí, twofold; trojí, threefold; obojí, of both; čtverý, -á, -é, fourfold; paterý, fivefold.
Adverbs: dvojnásob, dvojnásobně, doubly, trojnásobně triply etc; poprvé the first time, po druhé the second time, po třetí the third time.
Adjectives: jednoduchý single, dvojitý double, trojitý triple etc. Jednou once, dvakrát twice, třikráte three times, kráte times.
Examples: Dvojí práce. Double work. Jsme lidé jedné víry. We are people of one belief. Byl dvojnásob zaplacen. He was doubly (twofold) paid. Trojí přání. Triple (threefold) wish. Dvojí řada. A double row. Jednoduchá přikrývka. Simple (undoubled) cover. Trojí výpočet threefold reckoning. Třikráte počítali. They counted three times. Jest to po druhé, co jsi to udělal. This is the second time you have done it.
Neurčité číslovky.—Indefinite numerals.
Mnoho many; málo few; několik several. These three are followed by the possessive: Mnoho peněz, málo chleba, několik lidí.
