Nouns ending in -a, are feminine, also many in -e are feminine.
Nouns ending in -o are neuter, also many in -í are neuter.
Being—Bytost. In the masculine gender alone, a difference is made between nouns denoting animate beings, životné bytosti, and those denoting inanimate beings, neživotné bytosti.
Skloňováním nazýváme změny, kterými se slovo přizpůsobuje svému úkolu ve větě. Podstatné jmeno má sedm takových změn—pádů. Changes, by which a noun is adjusted to its purpose in the sentence, are called declension. Bohemian nouns have seven such changes called—cases. 1 jeden, 2 dva, 3 tři, 4 čtyři, 5 pět, 6 šest, 7 sedm, 8 osm, 9 devět, 10 deset, 11 jedenáct, 12 dvanáct.
jeden, dva are masculine forms, jeden, hoch, dva hoši, jedna, dvě, are feminine forms jedna sestra, dvě sestry. All other numerals have but one form, for all genders.
Numerals beginning with pět, šest, sedm etc. are followed by the possessive plural.
Pět hochů five boys, deset domů … etc.
