Regimental and other Badges.—"The Royal Crest," with Motto, "In veritate Religionis confido" (conferred in 1805 by George III. on change of Title). Also "The Castle of Edinburgh," with Motto, "Nisi Dominus frustra" (the Regiment was raised to defend the City of Edinburgh). Also "The White Horse" (of Hanover), with Motto, "Nec aspera terrent." Also "The Sphinx," for "Egypt" (1801).
