Lord, I my vows to thee renew;

Disperse my sins as morning dew.

May we not also say that when the evening hymn is heard, like the sounds that bid farewell to evening’s parting plaint, it fills the silent heart with devotion and repose?

All praise to thee, my God, this night

For all the blessings of the light;

Keep me, oh, keep me, King of kings,

Under thine own almighty wings.
