This work must ever be highly valued as affording the only complete index to the rich repertory of Arabian Manuscripts in the Escurial, and for the ample evidence which it exhibits of the science and mental culture of the Spanish Arabs. Gibbon remarks: "The execution of this work does honour to the Spanish press. The MSS., to the number of 1851, are judiciously classified by the Editor, and his copious extracts throw some light on the Mahommedan literature and history of Spain."
