“No, I am not. I have been engaged to teach five evenings in the week.”

“I didn’t know you were such a scholar,” said Mr. Jones, surprised. “Do they pay you much?”

“Two dollars an evening.”

“Good gracious! That is splendid pay.”

“Yes, it is very good pay.”

“Where are you to teach?”

“Mr. Vivian’s son.”
