"I think I can sleep, Mr. Grant," rejoined Scott. "I feel quite tired."
"Is there a lock on the door?"
Scott went forward to examine.
"Yes," he reported, "there is a lock, but no key."
"Is there a bolt?"
"No."
"I wonder," said the earl, very thoughtfully, "whether the key has been lost or intentionally removed?"
"We might ask for a key."
