“That’s five hundred cash.”
“Precisely. You’ll make a smart business man. Why won’t you come out to Buffalo and go into my employ?”
“I think I would prefer a place here.”
“If you change your mind, let me know.”
“I don’t think I would like to be in your employ,” thought Tom. “I don’t like your appearance well enough.”
