Zeh. “No; we always stay in the kasr.”

I. “Then you never ride as we do?” (I always ask if they ride, to see the effect.)

Zeh. “No, we have no mares to ride.”

I. “What a pity! and don’t you ever go into the country outside Haïl, the desert?”

Zeh. “Oh, no, of course not.”

I. “But, to pass the time, what do you do?”

Zeh. “We do nothing.”
