Daddy Do-Little waved his new red handkerchief in farewell, and shouted,
“I am so lazy, I wonder why,
You always have to call good bye.”
Tangle-Tail then made his best bow and said,
“I’m a tight-rope walker, I make confession
I have to go follow my profession.”
As he went off down the road Daddy Do-Little began to weep, but Curly-Tail cried,
“I’m not going away, I promise to stay,
A year, a week, a month and day.”
