A short while later all were congregated in the cabin and Frank told them the exact truth.
Contrary to the general expectation, Captain Bell was singularly silent.
After awhile he came to Frank and said:
“Do you give up all hope?”
“I fear so,” said Frank.
“I don’t.”
“What do you mean?”
“I think we are very near land at this moment.”
“I see no indication of it,” said Frank.
