My lovely sister! and I long’d to see
That calm repose; for with her parting breath
There came a look of peace—of ecstasy,
Which settled on her features. Eagerly
I prayed I might be carried to her side,
To gaze upon the face so dear to me;
And in a moment arms were open’d wide—
My husband’s faithful arms; and I was gratified!
