“You don’t think that she went back there and dug it up herself?”

“We didn’t see any footprints.”

“How did you mark the place?”

“By a stick that someone removed.”

“Not a very reliable way to take observations,” Jerry remarked. “Ever try the clock system?”

The girls looked blank.
