The influence of one human being over another is a subject of curious analysis, as well as the relation of the individual to the community, a subject, with its varied amplifications, which is of the first moment to-day. There is a story, a romance, which will interest novel-readers, but the book will hold the attention of those for whom the average novel has little charm.
