“Walter Ogden.”

“How long have you been a resident of Washington?”

“Five months.”

“Have you lived here before this winter, Mr. Ogden?”

“I have never rented a house here before this winter,” answered Ogden. “But I have made trips to Washington at different seasons for at least ten years.”

“Who is the owner of the house you rent?”

“Professor Richard Norcross, the naturalist.”

“He is visiting you?”
