½ cup chopped walnuts
Melt chocolate in double boiler.
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and melted chocolate, mix thoroughly.
Sift together flour, salt, baking powder and spices three times. Add to chocolate mixture alternately with milk.
Beat well. Add vanilla, dates and nuts.
Bake in greased loaf tin at 375° F. 40 to 45 minutes.
(Serve with Foamy Lemon Sauce.)
