One of the Transcribers has determined that, in the Index, a page number in square brackets means that on that page is a reference to the source that is cited using the Bibliography number. For example, the above entry for “[Withers, Alexander S.]”, refers to “[162]” and that page has a Bibliography reference to “[140]”, which is “Withers, Alexander S. Chronicles of Border Warfare”.
