The above ends with: “Por Risbie (Risby), á Hengrave en Suffolke 10 miles (sic). Alli començamos á morar, á dia 20 de Junio del año 1640.” Though lettered on the outside Risbie’s Journey, there is nothing in the volume to show that such was the traveller’s name; most likely Risbie or Risby in Suffolk being mentioned as the last place visited before reaching Hengrave, where the author’s family resided, led to the mistake.

This is preceded (at fol. 23) by an English translation of the same: Verses made at Cadiz in compliment to the Spanish Navy, March 1797. “What ships are there arrived to-day, Sir?”

“Varios Papeles y noticias de las Indias (?)” Tomo LXXXII. Containing papers and tracts chiefly relating to Portugal before and after its separation from Spain (1592-1669); with a few of an earlier date concerning the Portuguese possessions in Africa, but none at all touching upon the West Indies, as the title of the volume would seem to imply.
