Papers of Card. F. A. Gualterio. Correspondence with Prince Pio de Saboya, Viceroy of Sicily, 1711-18. The Prince’s name was Francisco Pio de Saboya, Moura—Corte Real; and his letters, all of which are original and dated from Mesina, Madrid, and Barcelona, range between the 8th of October, 1711, and 3rd of December, 1718. Most are in Spanish, a few in Italian, and some are written partly in cipher. At folio 163 are drafts of the Cardinal’s answers to the Prince or to the Marchioness of Los Balbases, his wife, from the 28th of May, 1712, to Sept. 1718.
