Christmas
CHRISTMAS—1864.
Mary and Robert and I have exchanged gifts.
We have given many presents to Tad.
Late in the afternoon, we placed a wreath on Willie’s grave.
This evening I received this telegram from General Sherman:
“I beg to present you, as a Christmas gift, the City of Savannah.
– William T. Sherman”
Wintry
