Upon the wither’d spirit of dismay’d

Ambition, swiftly by denial blew

To fury that, transcending all control,

I made away the ruin of my soul

To one whom no chance tempest at my feet

In the mid tempest of temptation threw.

Who blinding me with the double deceit

Of loftier aspiration and more low
