SKETCH No. 12.
This illustration shows a design adapting the form of mantel frequently seen i\\ England and France, with a hood extending to the ceiling. The fireplace opening may be from 3 feet 6 inches to 4 feet 6 inches in width, without changing the height of the mantel. If a wider opening is desired, the proportion of the mantel should be changed, and we would be pleased to prepare a drawing for the same. This design would look well in a large hall of a residence or in a public building, as a library, assembly hall or hotel.
