H.M.S. Alyssum (sloop) is sunk by a mine off the south-west coast of Ireland.

The German retreat continues; Ham and Chauny are occupied by the French.
Mesopotamia:—Feluja, on the Euphrates, is captured by the British.
The French battleship Danton is torpedoed and sunk in the Mediterranean (many lives lost).
