Stimulating ointments to promote the healing of indolent ulcerated Buboes.
Take of—
Red precipitate of mercury5grains.
Ointment of spermaceti1oz.
Mix.—The ulcer to be dressed with a small portion of this ointment spread upon lint. Or the following, which is stronger:—

Take of—
Red precipitate of mercury5grains.
Yellow basilicon2drachms.
Ointment of spermaceti6drachms.
Mix.—To be used like the preceding.
Take of nitrated ointment of mercury, diluted with an equal proportion of simple ointment.
Or, the unadulterated strong mercurial ointment.

Styptic application for indolent Ulcers.
Take of—
Caustic½drachm.
Or,Sulphate of copper½do.
Distilled water1oz.
Mix and strain, and smear the surface of the sore with a hair pencil, impregnated with either of the solutions: simple or astringent dressings may be applied afterward.

Take of—
Chloride of soda2ounces.
Rose-water2do.
Mix.
Preparation of Iron.
Take two drachms of carbonate of iron three times a day, gradually increasing the dose to half an ounce, or even an ounce; the bowels during the taking of this medicine should be kept open.
The following is an excellent combination.
Take of compound iron pill two drachms, to be divided into 24 pills—two to be taken three times a day.
Quinine.
Take three grains of sulphate of quinine three times a day. Or,

Take of—
Compound tincture of bark2ounces.
Sulphate of quinine12grains.
Muriatic acid20drops.
Mix.—Dose, a teaspoonful three times a day, in water.

Strengthening Pills.
Take of—
Ioduret of iron½drachm.
Castile soap½do.
Alkaline extract of gentian1do.
Mix.—To form 30 pills—take one twice daily.
