His tone a deeper loving had,
“Come, pet, and kiss your poor old dad.”
Loyal and loving, manly and glad,
She knew some change had come to dad.
Her eyes lit with a radiant smile,
She paused in thought a little while,
She said as slow as she looked him o’er,
“You’re not my old dad any more.”
“What then, my pet?” he asked with awe,
“Why, now you are my new papa.”
