Taylor might have added Erasmus, who, in one of his letters, speaking of Œcolampadius's writings on the Eucharist, says
"ut seduci posse videantur etiam electi,"
and adds, that he should have embraced his interpretations,
"nisi obstaret consensus Ecclesiæ;"
that is, Œcolampadius has convinced me, and I should avow my conviction, but for motives of personal prudence and regard for the public peace.
