"Oh," moaned his brother, "oh!—oh!"
"I'm here, old feller," said Reuben with a clumsy effort at tenderness.
"Bring a light, do—I can't abide this dark."
Reuben fetched the candle to the bedside.
"Where's Naomi?"
"She's asleep. Do you want her?"
"No—let her sleep. But bring me a light fur marcy's sake."
"I've brought it—it's here by the bed."
"I can't see it."
"You must—it's right in your eyes."
