A. The form of an oath was read to me, by a person sitting at a desk: I took the book, and returned it without swearing.
Q. Did you sign the journal as sworn to it?
A. Yes I did.
Here Mr. Pigott read his oath, which declared that his journal was a just and true one; and the attested copy being handed to the witness, he declared, he did not recollect whether he had signed it or not.
Q. Is not that your name to the oath—and is it false or true?
