We do not mean that the refinements and elegancies of life that he met with in this higher grade were repugnant to him. But they were what he had not been used to; and therefore, he felt, for a time, an unpleasant restraint, and a fear lest he should ignorantly violate some mode or form deemed essential to polite intercourse.
