"Neck or Nothing" is a violent attack on Harley and Bolingbroke by John Dunton, who got himself into trouble for writing it, and was some time in hiding. In another pamphlet, "Impeachment, or Great Britain's charge . . . ," published some months later, Dunton describes himself on the title as "The unknown author of 'Neck or Nothing,' who being buried alive [i.e., forced to abscond] for daring to call a Spade a Spade."
