Epistle dedicatory to Henry VIII, signed by the author Roger Ascham. Address 'To all gentle men and yomen of Englande.' Title with table of contents to the two books. The second Book begins with new foliation at sig. D 3. The two leaves a3 and 4 containing Title and Table have been placed at the beginning to supply the place of the frontispiece. This is the first edition; subsequent ones appeared in 1571 and 1589.
